Nevern brooch - amethyst (pb84p)

Pewter openwork with embossed design and amethyst cabochon centre. Secures to garment by way of a pin with locking, safety catch.

This Celtic cross is typical of many found in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. They were carved in local stone by the native Celts and are still intact centuries later. This particular one is specific to Wales and contains the Holy Trinity triscele knot within each cross section of the design.
