Interlacing Aberlemno knot sporran flask (6oz) pf47

Interlacing Aberlemno Knot Sporran Flask (6oz) Pf47
Solid lead-free pewter with embossed Celtic design on one side. Screw top with internal seal to prevent leakage. Rounded base, more suitable for the pocket or sporran. Supplied with a small plastic filling funnel.

This flask has been made by skilled craftspeople, using traditional spinning techniques. It will last a lifetime if treated with care. Caution: this item is NOT dishwasher safe. High temperatures and cleaning agents will damage the pewter.
A sporran is a type of pouch worn in front of the kilt - a traditional item of clothing worn in the Highlands of Scotland. When the kilt was established as the national ceremonial costume, the sporran became increasingly more ornate. The sporran flask is significantly flatter than more traditional flasks, so that it can slip into the sporran without causing discomfort.
The interlacing knot on this item is taken from the carved cross slab in the churchyard at Aberlemno, Scotland. Pictish in origin, it dates from the 8th century and the reverse of the slab is thought to depict the batttle of Dunnichen.
