Paua shell is only found in the sea around New Zealand. This marine mollusc eats seaweed and lives clinging to the rocks at depths of 1-10 metres, normally along the shoreline. It is managed in a sustainable way. Each shell is different in its colour tonings and in the patterns within the shell.
