Pewter openwork knots with cultured freshwater pearl drop on stainless steel curb chain.

Cultured pearls can be divided into salt water and freshwater varieties, and account for over 95% of world production. Freshwater pearls are grown in mussels when a nucleus of shaped mantle from another mollusc is placed inside. A mussel can grow between 10 and 20 pearls!
